INFORMATION RELATED TO THE CITY-OWNED CEMETERIES
Rules and Regulations Related to Mt. Hope, Evergreen, and North Cemeteries
(Lansing Municipal Cemeteries Rule Book)
Visiting hours are from dawn to dusk.
When visiting, park your car on the road, so that all four tires are on the asphalt. Do not park on the grass.
Persons entering the cemetery will be held responsible for any damage done to the cemetery properties by them, and are requested to observe the General Rules posted at the cemetery entrance.
The defacement of monuments, markers, gravesites, or cemetery appurenances whether intentional or otherwise, the removal of flowers, urns or any of the cemetery equipment without authority will be considered a misdemeanor and so treated.
The operator and/or owner of any vehicle will be held responsible for any damage done by the vehicle whether intentional or unintentional.
The speed limit on cemetery roads is established at 15 miles per hour.
Profane or boisterous language will not be tolerated and loiterers will not be permitted in the cemetery.
Gifts or tips to cemetery employees are not allowed.
Children must be accompanied by their parents or adults who will be responsible for their conduct in the cemetery.
Do not feed the wildlife.
Planting of Flowers
Annual flowers must be planted in the ground - no perennials. Planting must be within eight inches of the monument or marker. Planting is permitted April 15 - October 31.
No decorative stones or edging allowed.
Vases for fresh flowers much be installed in ground and turned to down position when not in use. No glass jars or potted plants permitted.
Artificial flowers, wreaths, and grave blankets are permitted adjacent to monument or marker from November 1 - April 1.
Dwarf shrubs may be planted next to monument with approval from cemetery office.
Staff will leave items of $5 or more value or of sentimental value.
Staff does not remove stones placed on headstones.
The City of Lansing assumes no responsibility for damages to or losses of decorations, markers, or monuments.
